Tea? 1900s is from the Tea? series. It depicts the tradition of enjoying a cup of tea and biscuits with a friend and sitting down together for a conversation to catch up with each other’s news. This can be an important emotional support system and is an invaluable part of our culture.
This late Victorian era was renowned for its ornate designs. One example is a delicate tray cloth I discovered, made of fine cotton with subtle floral embroidery and a charming lace border.
Additionally, I came across a beautiful tea service by Blairs China, England. It features an ornate floral design hand-painted on intricately shaped china vessels with finely scalloped edges.
The biscuits of this era included Jam drops and chocolate digestives, the latter being a relatively new addition to the biscuit assortment at the time.
