Tea? 1930s
Tea? 1930s is from the Tea? series. It depicts the tradition of enjoying a cup of tea and biscuits with a friend and sitting down together for a conversation to catch up with each other’s news. This can be an important emotional support system and is an invaluable part of our culture.
The 1930s showcased the Art Deco style. I was lucky enough to find a tablecloth and crockery from that decade. The white tablecloth features a grey embroidered cutwork design, the grey beautifully complimenting the subtle grey in the crockery pattern.
I was so excited to find Shelley Regent Green Swirls pattern Art Deco crockery which is iconic of the 1930’s although I was not around to see this decade, I have been fascinated to research this era.
Now, onto the biscuits—the 1930’s favourites were strawberry shortcake and digestive biscuits. I found a green under cloth to match the crockery and unite the composition.
